Bird Schistosomiasis - head of cercaria from pond water where infected birds congregate, Giemsa stain. These cercaria are 375 - 500 x 35 - 100 microns. These bird schistosomes cannot develop in humans but the cercariae cause a skin irritation, called Swimmer's Itch.
